What we believe at Faith

Our Beliefs

JESUS CHRIST

We believe that the Lord Jesus Christ, the eternal Son of God, became man, without ceasing to be God, having been conceived by the Holy Spirit and born of the Virgin Mary, so that He might reveal God and redeem sinful man. (Luke 1:35; John1:1-2,14)

We believe that the Lord Jesus Christ accomplished our redemption through His death on a cross as a representative, vicarious, substitutionary sacrifice; and that our justification is made sure by His literal physical resurrection from the dead. (Romans 3:24-25; Ephesians 1:7; 1 Peter 1:3, 5; 2:24)

We believe the Lord Jesus Christ ascended to heaven and is now exalted at the right hand of God, where as our High Priest, He fulfills the ministry of Representative, Intercessor, and Advocate. (Acts 1:9-10; Romans 3:24; Hebrews 9:24; 7:25; 1 John 2:1-2)

THE TRINITY

We believe in one Triune God, eternally existing in three persons: Father, Son, and Holy Spirit, co-eternal in being, co-identical in nature, co-equal in power and glory, and having the same attributes and perfection. (Deuteronomy 6:24; 2 Corinthians 13:14)

The bible

We believe that the Holy Scriptures of the Old and New Testaments (The Bible) are the inspired Word of God, the final authority for faith and life, inerrant in the original writings, infallible and God-breathed. (Matthew 5:18; John 16:12-13; 2 Timothy 3:16-17; 2 Peter1:20-21)

THE SEPARATION

We believe that man was created in the image and likeness of God; but that in Adam's sin the race fell, inherited a sinful nature, and became alienated from God; and that man is totally depraved, and of himself utterly unable to remedy his lost condition. (Genesis 1:26-27; Romans 3:22-23; 5:12; Ephesians 2:1-3;12)

THE RECONCILIATION (Salvation)

We believe that salvation is the free gift of God brought to man by grace and received by personal faith in the Lord Jesus Christ, whose precious blood was shed on Calvary for the forgiveness of our sins.

We believe that, in order to enjoy the benefit of Christ's death and to claim the gift of eternal life, we must be born again. We believe that this consists of giving new life to the believer through the indwelling of the Holy Spirit. The evidence of being born again is the fruit of the Spirit shown forth in the life and conduct of the believer. ( Ezekiel 36:26-27; John 3:3; 5:7; Romans 8:3-9, 13-16; Galatians 5:22-23; Ephesians 2:4-5; Titus 3:5-6)

baptism

We believe that Christian Baptism is the immersion of the believer in water in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit; is a solemn and expressive emblem of the believer's faith in the Savior, crucified, buried and risen; and is a sacred engagement to walk henceforth in newness of life. (Matthew 3:16; 28:29; Mark1:5, 16:16; Acts 2:41; 8:12, 36-38; 10:47; 16:14-15, 33-34;18:8; Romans 6:4; 1 Corinthians 1:16; Ephesians 4:5; Colossians 2:12; 1 Peter 3:21)

the lord's supper

We believe that the Lord's Supper is an institution of Christ given to the church, by which those who have been baptized and have continued steadfastly in the Apostles's doctrine and in fellowship are to commemorate the dying love of Jesus Christ. (Matthew 26:28; Mark 14:22-26; Luke 22:9,20; Acts 2:42: 20:7; 1 Corinthians 10:16-17; 11:18-34; 2 Thessalonians 3:6)

THE CHURCH

We believe that the church, which is the espoused bride of Christ, is a spiritual organism made up of all born again persons of this present age. (Ephesians 1:22-23; 5:25-27; 1 Corinthians 12:12-14; 2 Corinthians 11:2)

We believe the establishment and continuance of local churches is clearly taught and defined in the New Testament Scriptures. (Acts 12:27; 20:17; 28:32; 1 Timothy 3:1-13; Titus 1:5-11)
